Hornvík is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in Iceland. It is surrounded by two of the three largest bird cliffs in Europe and the calls of millions of birds echoing against the cliff faces combined with the sound of lapping ocean waves give this remote area a mystical aura.

To begin, we´ll take a boat out to view the cliffs of Hælavíkurbjarg which reach a height of 400-500 meters. Once we step ashore, we´ll hike up to the top of Hornbjarg (537 meters). The Arctic foxes are known to roam nearby and may appear without notice. The tour will take about 10-12 hours with 5-6 hours spent exploring Hornvík.

This hike is recommended for people in moderately good shape and is about 6 km on rough and partly steep ground including hiking up and down a cliff. You can also order a homemade packed lunch of two bread buns, a power bar and a muffin for 2.100 ISK each.

NOTE! Participation in this tour requires warm and wind/waterproof clothes, solid hiking boots, gloves and cap, a lunch pack and something to drink! And don’t forget to bring your camera.
