Seal Colony at Rauðasandur
Rauðasandur is one of the most spectacular sites in Iceland. A magnificent landscape of red colored sand, beautiful black cliffs and the blue Atlantic Ocean.
Our local guide will either take you by tractor carriage or on a hike (without disturbing the seals) to a seal colony where harbour seals can often be seen at a close range. We do our best not to disturb the seals and because they are naturally curious and playful you will certainly get some good pictures. More than 100 seals take advantage of the sun and sand at Rauðasandur, sunbathing and resting on the beach. In early summer, seal-mothers lie on the sand with their young. Later in the summer, you can watch as the pups take their first steps to adulthood.
This is a truly delightful adventure.
