What better way to enjoy travelling the rough, unpaved tracks of the Westfjords than in a jeep with a local guide telling you the stories and interesting facts about the southern region of the Westfjords?
Enjoy the magnificent valleys, giant cliffs and yellow colored beaches of Ketildalir and the beautiful Selárdalur valley on the west side of Arnarfjörður. Visit an extraordinary outdoor museum at the Art Museum of Samúel Jónsson. Samúel was a self-educated artist who, after retirement, devoted himself to his passion of art. This remote and isolated museum is home to a great variety of large sculptures, paintings and colorful houses.
We´ll also visit the Sea Monster Museum in the historic and vibrant town of Bíldudalur and examine the history of tales of sea monsters.
Next up, we´ll visit Tálknafjörður, renowned for the small tidy fishing village, geothermal water, rich bird life and white sandy beaches. We’ll explore both sides of the fjord including Europe´s westernmost grove, the ruins of Suðureyri´s whaling station and rest our legs in the local natural hot spring pool Pollurinn.
